Calories Burned by Activity

Choose an activity, enter your weight and time, and the calculator will find how many calories you burned.

How it's calculated

Burned = MET × weight (kg) × time (h). MET shows how much more energy an activity uses compared to resting. Values come from the Compendium of Physical Activities (Ainsworth et al., 2011), used by researchers and physicians worldwide.

Frequently Asked Questions

Which activity burns the most calories?

Among popular ones: jumping rope, running, fast swimming, and cross-country skiing: 9–12 MET, or 600–800 kcal per hour for a 70 kg person.

Should I eat back burned calories?

If your goal is weight loss, not necessarily: it creates a larger deficit. If you work out a lot and feel fatigued, you should adjust your intake for activity.

Does cleaning count as exercise?

Yes. An hour of cleaning burns about 230 kcal for a 70 kg person, similar to a walk.

This is an average estimate: actual burn depends on intensity, technique, and fitness level.
